Online Casino Sucker Bets — Part Two

  • Progressive side bets: Casino games such as Caribbean Stud Poker regularly have one of these. You typically lay a wager ($1 is the normal amount) to try to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Though huge jackpots like these are extremely appealing, they’re also particularly hard to win. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this wager. Also, picture this- you play twenty hands and make the side wager every time. That is twenty dollars you could have used towards the actual game wager in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a bet with better odds using that $20.
  • Individual number bets in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has 2 zeroes on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only 1. This shifts the complete house edge from 2% with a single zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The single number bet has only a 1 in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very big odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red bets alternately which have a much lower house advantage.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you wager on it, the house advantage can be a huge 25%. Yes, that isn’t a error. Due to the large set of numbers you have to pick, it isn’t advisable to play Keno very much. A couple of times for enjoyment, maybe. But do not spend all your money on it or you’ll immediately discover yourself beaten.
